ColoCrossing Ireland VPS Review · US Native IP + Full AI Platform Unlock · Great for Europe Hosting but China Latency Is High

When ColoCrossing comes up, many users think first of its extremely cheap US VPS plans. During Black Friday especially, many bought small VMs from the Los Angeles, New York or Chicago datacenters — value has stayed strong.

Starting in 2025, ColoCrossing rolled out an Ireland Dublin datacenter — European nodes are relatively uncommon, and combined with Windows support and low pricing, this got a lot of attention. The initial stock sold out quickly, and only in April 2026 did it restock — regular plans now have Ireland datacenter selectable again.

The tested plan is the entry tier, configured as:

The test machine uses an Intel Xeon Platinum 8176 processor with single-core frequency around 2.10 GHz. The frequency isn't especially high, but the overall performance is clearly better than some of ColoCrossing's older US datacenters.

Test results:

Overall, this Ireland VPS's CPU and disk performance sit in the better tier across ColoCrossing's datacenters — disk performance is markedly improved versus some of its cheaper US nodes. For lightweight hosting, Windows idling, and small program deployment, performance is sufficient.

Download speed: China nodes download around 600 Mbps / local UK nodes saturate 1 Gbps.

Upload speed: Asia direction upload around 180 Mbps.

Meaning: European region access is good / China download is acceptable / Asia upload direction visibly shrinks. If the audience is mostly in Europe, no issue; if it's China mainland business, the upload behavior will affect overall experience.

Measured average China mainland latency around 253 ms. For an ordinary European direct line, this is fairly common.

China Telecom: outbound detours through US, then Canada, UK, finally Ireland; return goes directly from Europe back to China.

China Unicom: outbound also detours through US; return again goes through US back to China — Unicom shows the most detoured route overall.

China Mobile: outbound also detours through US; return goes directly from Europe back to China. Mobile return is slightly better than Unicom, but overall latency is still high.

Overall network quality: China Telecom average latency around 240 ms / China Unicom and Mobile mostly above 300 ms / all three carriers run ordinary international routing.

European internal performance is good: Germany, UK and Netherlands all show latency within 20 ms.

So this machine fits sites targeting European users / European business relays / European Windows idling / AI platform business — not great for China low-latency applications.

Even with high latency, network stability is decent. Measured packet loss to China and overseas is negligible / long-running ping stays stable / Europe and US East perform well. The route detours but stability is acceptable.

Interestingly, this Ireland-based datacenter VPS is identified by multiple databases as a US Native IP.

Real test results: unlocks TikTok US / unlocks Netflix US / partial US-region streaming usable / AI platforms basically all unlocked (including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini etc.).

Note: some platforms identify region differently — some as US, some as Ireland.

IP detection results are inconsistent: some databases say US Native IP, low risk; more databases say IDC datacenter IP, high-risk datacenter broadcast IP.

Practically, AI platforms work / TikTok works / streaming unlock works — real-world usability is solid.

Ping0 also identifies it as an IDC broadcast IP, but IP cleanliness is high, so it leans toward the "clean datacenter IP" type.

Test environment is China Unicom broadband. YouTube playback speed measured around 40K+.

Behavior: 1440p basically smooth / 4K plays but buffers easily.

Because Unicom detours through the US and Europe-to-China latency is high, overall video experience isn't great. In theory Telecom and Mobile may be slightly better due to direct return, but the high overall latency still limits gains.

After installing Baota Panel and deploying default LNMP: about 560 MB RAM remaining / about 19 GB disk remaining.

The entry plan still handles: small blogs / WordPress sites / company display sites / lightweight European business. If users come mostly from Europe, the access experience will be markedly better than from China mainland.

Overall, the ColoCrossing Ireland VPS has very clear characteristics.

Pros: solid hardware / good SSD speed / US Native IP / excellent AI platform unlock / TikTok and Netflix work / Windows support / cheap.

Cons: high China latency / Unicom detours heavily through US / Asia upload speed is average / video experience isn't great.

It fits: European hosting / Windows idling / AI platform registration / overseas business deployment / sites targeting European users.

If the main use is China access / video / low-latency needs, this Ireland VPS isn't ideal.
